Nicolina undertook her professional qualifications at City University and The
College of Law, London. She qualified in 2001 and initially practised as a litigator
specialising in construction professional negligence disputes before joining SJ
Berwin LLP in 2002 to focus on the non-contentious aspects of construction law.

On the non-contentious side, Nicolina has experience of advising on suitable
procurement methods, drafting and negotiating building contracts, letters of
instruction, appointments, warranties and reviewing forms of bonds and
guarantees. She is familiar with the use of collateral warranties and "Third Party
Rights" to protect the rights of interested third parties, ranging from purchasers
and tenants through to collective investment vehicles and off shore property unit
trusts. Nicolina also has particular expertise advising on the construction aspects
of real estate agreements.

Nicolina has not turned her back on her litigious roots and still jumps at the
opportunity to deal with contentious construction matters. A large part of her
current contentious practice focuses on the resolution of disputes by negotiation and
mediation. If all else fails, she is experienced in dealing with cases through the formal litigation procedures of the Technology and Construction division of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) and in the County Court generally.
