Catherine joined SJ Berwin in 1995 and joined the partnership in 2003.

Catherine's practice spans both international and domestic commercial litigation, with an emphasis on all types of banking and regulatory disputes (including FSA investigations), investment mismanagement and financial markets litigation. 

Catherine’s range of clients include banks, hedge funds, broker dealers, clearers, principals, approved persons, public and private companies, limited liability partnerships and other investment vehicles.

Recent cases include:

  • Acting for Wave Lending Limited v Al Ansari in freezing assets.
  • Acting for a major financial institution in a dispute with vendors.
  • Acting for major care home provider in dispute with the vendor.
  • Acting for Tesco Personal Finance/RBS in the House of Lords test case on the application of section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act to credit cards.
  • Acting for Pershing Securities in a major fraud/market abuse case and pursuing multiple defendants.
  • Advising investment management firms, hedge funds and corporates on litigation risks.
  • Acting for various regulated firms and approved persons facing FSA investigations and enforcement action.
  • Negligence claims against fund managers.
