The Media & Communications Group's expertise in all aspects of film financing has made it one of the UK's leading film financing practices and the Group has won praise from both clients and legal publications.

Our clients include the majority of major European banks involved in film finance and we have also acted for a number of prominent US banks on cross-border transactions. We advise our banking clients on a wide range of film financing matters including the provision of production and distribution loans, and gap and bridge financing.

In addition to our work for banks, we act for other lenders and investors, as well as producers raising finance and distribution and sales companies in relation to their involvement with the film financing process.

Our expertise extends to advising individuals and partnerships on film investment transactions using UK tax relief and we act for both producers and acquirers of films and for both UK and non-UK clients in respect of the sale and leaseback and related financing of film projects.

The Media and Communications Group also draws on the cross-departmental expertise within SJ Berwin. Among others, our tax department includes experts in film taxation matters and our corporate department hosts some of the foremost fund formation experts.
