SJ Berwin LLP has hired Victoria Younghusband, currently co-head of investment funds at LG, to join its highly rated financial markets group with effect from 1 August 2007.

Victoria qualified at Stephenson Harwood and became a partner in 1989 where she stayed (including 4 years in their Hong Kong office) until joining LG in 1998. She specialises in all types of investment funds, financial services, corporate finance, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate governance. She is recommended for investment funds and financial services in Legal 500 and described as a leading individual for investment funds in Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession.

Victoria's brief will be to continue to serve financial markets clients such as investment companies, asset managers and securities market institutions as well as to contribute to the continuing growth of the Hedge Fund practice at the firm.

Victoria's appointment takes the number of partners in the core financial markets group in London to seven with a further 13 partners in the firm’s offices in Europe.  In addition the group works with a number of other practice areas in the firm - namely contentious and disciplinary financial services; structured finance and derivatives; outsourcing and IT; financial markets taxation and specialised funds - which together total in excess of 100 lawyers.
