Paul is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group.

He advises on all aspects of intellectual property protection and enforcement
including trade marks, copyright, design rights, data protection, domain name
disputes and confidential information.

Paul's portfolio of clients operate in various business sectors and industries
including toy, media and entertainment, food, motor vehicles and luxury goods.
He has been involved in a number of important cases including:

• Goodwood Racecourse Ltd and others v Satellite Information Services Ltd and

In particular, Paul has a great deal of trade mark experience involving
enforcement, clearance searching, filing and oppositions. Recently, he has been
involved successfully in a complex set of trade mark oppositions and revocations
between Covent Garden Market Authority and New Covent Garden Soup Company
(which are reported on the trade mark office website: the references are O/015/06
and O/026/06).

He has worked extensively with HM Customs & Excise and Trading Standards
Offices throughout the UK in connection with many programmes to prevent the
distribution in the UK of unauthorised parallel imported and counterfeited goods.
He has also gained a great deal of experience in obtaining emergency relief such
as interim injunctions, and search and seizure orders.

He has also advised extensively on a large domain name recovery programme
(some of which are reported on WIPO's website: the references are Desnoes &
Geddes Ltd v Cory Legue (Case No D2002-0659) and Arthur Guinness Son v
Denis Jalbert (Case No D2003-0784).

Paul is a frequent writer for Trade Mark World and Copyright World. He regularly
attends the Anti-Counterfeiting Group conferences and attends other conferences
such as ECTA.

He has completed the Postgraduate Diploma in IP Law from Bristol University.
