Wyn Derbyshire is Head of the Pensions Group and Co-Head of the Pensions Litigation Practice. He joined the firm as a partner in November 1998.

Wyn deals with all transactional, advisory and documentation aspects of pensions work and has a wide experience of the pensions implications of heavyweight corporate transactions. He also has experience of the issues arising from the establishment and merger of pension schemes, pensions issues on flotations, sex-equalisation issues in respect of benefits provided by pension schemes, and advice to pension scheme trustees generally.

Wyn is an ADR Group Accredited Mediator and a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Wyn's pensions expertise is recognised in the UK's leading legal directories including Chambers UK (where he is listed as a "Leading Individual" and is quoted as knowing "…everything about pensions"), Legal 500 UK (where he is praised for being "calm, focused and wise" in difficult negotiations) and Legal Experts.

Wyn is Joint Consulting Editor for Sweet & Maxwell's loose-leaf publication: “Doing Business in Europe”, a member of the advisory boards for Sweet & Maxwell's: “Discrimination in Employment” and the “Encyclopaedia of Employment Law”, a legal consultant to Gee's "The Pensions Factbook" and an advisor for the Pensions Advisory Service. In addition, Wyn has had a number of articles published, speaks frequently at seminars and conferences, and is often quoted in the media in respect of pensions-related matters. He is a co-author (with Stephen Hardy and Stephen Maffey) of "TUPE: Law and Practice", published by Spiramus Press in April 2006, and co-author (with Stephen Hardy and David Wicks) of “Money & Work”, published by Spiramus Press in August 2007. He is presently co-writing a book on employment and pensions matters for Sweet & Maxwell. He is also a contributor to Sweet & Maxwell’s “Law of Pension Schemes”, having recently written a chapter dealing with the pensions aspects of corporate transactions.

Wyn read Chemistry at the University of Leeds and obtained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Cambridge before converting to law and qualifying as a solicitor in 1991.
