Justin is a Partner in the international arbitration group, part of the commercial litigation and dispute resolution department. Justin joined us from Weil, Gotshal & Manges, in February 2007, having previously been at Clifford Chance. Justin qualified as a barrister in 1997 and worked at SJ Berwin as an associate for two years.
Justin has considerable experience in major international commercial disputes. He has appeared before many international commercial arbitral tribunals both institutional (ICC, LCIA) and ad hoc in disputes covering a wide variety of jurisdictions. Justin also regularly acts for clients in the Commercial Court division of the High Court of England and Wales and has extensive experience of seeking orders from the Court under the Arbitration Act 1996 and preliminary relief in support of foreign proceedings under the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1992.
Justin advises on a wide range of issues, including disputes arising out of private equity start-ups and exits; shareholder disputes; international film finance disputes; manufacturer-distributor quality and service disputes; and construction, property and insurance disputes. He regularly advises clients and colleagues on dispute resolution clauses for all types of ADR.
He is an active member of the Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn and sits as a panel member of their Special Panels Tribunals. Justin is also an active member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the International Bar Association and the Young International Arbitration Group of the London Court of International Arbitration. Justin was also a committee member of the Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates ("SAHCA") between 2002 and 2006.
He is regularly published on issues of ADR and international arbitration in journals and magazines such as Legal Week, the Estates Gazette, the New Law Journal, the Solicitors Journal, the Law Society Gazette, the Property Law Journal and the International Bar Association Committee D Newsletter.
