Carl Nisser is a Consultant with SJ Berwin LLP and a member of the Swedish Bar Association.  He has qualified as an Appelate Court Judge in Sweden.  Prior to becoming a member of the Swedish Bar Association, Carl held leading international executive positions including Director of European Corporate Affairs at Volvo, Director of Corporate Affairs and Assistant Director of Export Operations at Goodyear International and Advisor to Goodyear in Indonesia.

Following over 20 years in industry in Europe, the U.S. and the Far East in senior executive positions and leading a large project for U.S. AID in India, Indonesia and Thailand, Carl set up a branch office for Scandinavian law firms in Brussels in 1989.  In 1997, he set up his own law firm in Brussels and London focusing on competition and securities law.  He has been named one of the leading Swedish and European competition lawyers in several publications and he has edited and written several books and articles on EU law with an emphasis on competition law.

Carl has coordinated and authored several opinions for the Competition Commission at the International Chamber of Commerce and is a member of ICC's Commissions on Competition and Arbitration, respectively.  Carl has been a visiting professor and lectured at universities in Europe and the U.S. and has French and Swedish LLMs and an Executive Diploma from Harvard Business School.  Carl has been a Trustee of the Florence Academy of Art, a member of the board of directors of private and publicly listed corporations and he has advised Livslust, a home and vocational school for socially exposed youngsters in Latvia and supports the Children In Need Institute, Calcutta, India.  He set up the European Government Business Relations Council in 1976, known as the Ad Hoc Council.

Using his knowledge of languages and experience of different cultures, Carl advises clients on corporate and commercial law including international fund structures, listing of securities on AIM and competition law. He represents clients in arbitration proceedings and pre-litigation proceedings before international fora and is appointed as arbitrator in various jurisdictions.  Carl is a CEDR Accredited Mediator.
