Carl Richards is an Associate within the Employment and Pensions Group at SJ Berwin LLP.

He specialises in the employment law aspects of corporate transactions, with a particular emphasis on private equity deals. Carl frequently advises on business transfers and the impact of TUPE, corporate restructuring, collective consultation and wider strategic issues. He also often provides advice on the application of TUPE to first generation and second generation outsourcing situations, including ways in which to minimise the impact of TUPE applying and the drafting of indemnity protection.
Carl also advises on contentious matters ranging from advising on team moves and the enforceability of restrictive covenants to complex high value litigation. Carl also provides everyday HR support and advice to a broad client base including financial institutions, PLCs and advertising houses. 

Prior to joining SJ Berwin LLP in October 2007, Carl worked in the Employment Team at Fox Williams solicitors for six years. Carl also previously worked at DJ Freeman in London where he trained and qualified.

Carl gained his LLB in Law at Nottingham Trent University in 1996 and was admitted as a solicitor of England & Wales in September 1999.
