David Rose is a partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Group, specialising in rights protection and enforcement programmes across all intellectual property disciplines – patents, trade marks, copyright and designs. He represents many leading intellectual property owners (including well known personalities) notably in the entertainment, pharmaceutical, financial services, computer, sports, toys, clothing and luxury goods industries.

David is listed as a "leading individual" in the field of intellectual property in the UK Chambers Guide, Chambers Global and Legal 500.

David has acted in a number of high profile disputes including Marks v Spencer and others v One in a Million, Sony Computer Entertainment v Nuplayer, Sony Computer Entertainment v Pacific Game Technology, Racing UK v Satellite Information Services, Arrow Generics v Merck and Co Inc, Guinness UDV North America Inc v Flexitrace Ltd and Cairnstores v Astra Zeneca. Chair of SJ Berwin's Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences group, David has acted in many of the major pharmaceutical patent actions in recent years related to, amongst other compounds, paroxetine, perindopril, citalopram, alendronate, simvastatin and gabapentin. David also has extensive experience advising clients on brand and design protection programmes and acts regularly in administrative proceedings before the Trade Marks Registry.

In the anti-counterfeiting field David has acted for a number of major brand owners, notably in the entertainment, merchandising and clothing industries, co-ordinating with Trading Standards in relation to prosecutions under the TMA and also working with HMC&E concerning Customs notifications. For a number of years David was a member of the Anti-Counterfeiting Group's Public Policy Committee, advising the ACG in relation to legal developments, notably, in recent times, in connection with the impact of the Proceeds of Crime and Enterprise Acts respectively.

David has a Masters Degree in Intellectual Property from the University of London and has written extensively on intellectual property matters. He is a contributor to Sweet & Maxwell's Readings on Intellectual Property and Butterworths' The Modern Law of Patents. David is a frequent contributor to leading intellectual property journals including the European Intellectual Property Review, Patent World, Entertainment Law Review, Trademark World, Managing Intellectual Property and the CIPA Journal.

David is a member of ITMA, INTA, IPLA and AIPPI.
