Andrew Shindler joined SJ Berwin as a trainee in 1987, after completing Bachelor and Masters degrees in law. He became a partner of the firm in May 1997.

Andrew specialises in intellectual property, pharmaceutical, IT, general commercial and contract law, with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating agreements and advising generally in all of those areas. He also advises on intellectual property, IT and contract issues associated with joint ventures, corporate mergers, acquisitions and investments.

Andrew is described in Legal 500 as someone of whose non-contentious IP work clients "can’t speak highly enough" and is recommended particularly for commercial contracts in the pharmaceutical & biotechnology sector. Andrew is listed as an expert in the "Legal Experts Guide" and is recommended for Life Science: Commercial and Partnership by "PLC Which Lawyer 2008". Andrew is also the co-author of E-contracts (Tottel 2007).

Andrew is a leading member of the firm's CMT Group and Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences Group. He is the editor of the firm's ICT newsletter, StrICTly Legal and former editor of the firm's Pharmaceutical Update.

Andrew is a member of the Licensing Executive Society, is the secretary of the City of London Law Society Commercial Law Committee and is a trustee of the Cardiovascular Research Trust. Andrew also regularly lectures and writes on all of the above areas of law.
