Ellen Wouters is an associate in the Brussels office primarily practicing in areas of corporate finance and real estate.

She has been involved in many national and international transactions including mergers and acquisitions, both on the buy side and sell side of domestic and cross-border deals, spin-offs and restructuring. She also provides advice to clients on financial products, the drafting of and consultation on credit agreements, securities and collateral.

Ellen has developed particular experience in Belgian and foreign real estate investment transactions including assistance in the negotiations of contracts as both sale and purchase, financial leasing, rights in rem, joint ventures, leases. She also assists clients in the management of important real estate development projects including the drafting of contracts with developers, architects, engineers, property development and plant engineering and construction.

As part of the European funds practice Ellen regularily advises funds on regulatory aspects and compliance issues as well as the drafting/reviewing of customer documentation.

She also deals with general commercial law issues including commercial distribution (agency, distributorships and franchise).

Ellen obtained her Law degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium and spent one year studying at ESADE in Barcelona, Spain. She also holds a Masters Degree (LL.M) in European Law from the Free University of Brussels (Institut d'Etudes européennes - ULB) and has completed a supplementary course in Company Law at EHSAL Management School, Brussels.

In addition to her mother tongue, Dutch, Ellen also speaks fluent English, French and Spanish as well as having a very good command of German.
