Nigel van Zyl has been a partner in the funds team since 2007, having joined the team in 2000. He specialises in advising fund managers in relation to the structuring of private equity investment funds, infrastructure funds, deal specific co-investment vehicles, carried interest arrangements and co-investment plans, and a broad range of transactions relating to the restructuring of investment funds, structuring of special purpose vehicles for investment into private equity and the structuring of fund managers. He also acts for a number of investors investing in investment funds.  Nigel has a particular expertise in secondary transactions and the various structures used for these transactions advising some of the most active participants in the market.

Clients include Adams Street Partners, Coal Pension Trustees, Cognetas, Dunedin Capital, HgCapital, Lion Capital, Silverfleet Capital Limited, Segulah, LGT, Hermes Private Equity, Intermediate Capital Group, Industri Kapital, Watson Wyatt Pension Scheme and the Civil Aviation Authority Pension Scheme.
