Nicholas Plant is a Partner in the Corporate Finance group. Nicholas joined SJ Berwin as a trainee in 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in the Corporate Finance group in 1998. Nicholas has also worked at Lovells and Goldman Sachs.
Nicholas primarily advises private equity houses on domestic and cross-border leveraged buy-outs. He also advises on general M&A and joint ventures.
Key transactions completed in 2007 include:
- advising RBS Equity on the £1 billion sale of the Citigroup Tower
- advising CVC Capital Partners on the US$1.7 billion acquisition of Samsonite Corporation, for which we were nominated for the “Private Equity Team of the Year” award at the Legal Business 2008 awards
- advising Duke Street Capital on the £76.9 million offer for British dentistry operator Oasis Healthcare Plc
- advising Merchant Equity Partners on the acquisition of MFI Retail, which won “Corporate Team of the Year – Mid Market” at the Lawyer Awards 2007
- advising the Drumaville consortium of investors on the takeover of Sunderland football club
- advising Graphite on the leveraged buy-out of Lasercare Holdings (IOM) Limited, one of the leading providers of non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the UK and now known as “SK:N”
- advising the ALL3MEDIA management team on the £320 million acquisition of ALL3MEDIA by Permira
Nicholas also regularly lectures at EVCA training conferences.
