Steven Davis is Head of the Corporate Finance Department at SJ Berwin LLP.
He qualified in 1989, was admitted to the New York Bar in 1993 and became a partner in 1994.
Steven acts for both public and private companies with a particular focus on advising private equity houses and management teams on buy-outs, buy-ins, public-to-private and M&A transactions and advising high growth companies on their M&A activity within the UK and internationally. He has widely recognised sectoral expertise in leisure, retail, entertainment and hotels. He is recognised by the legal journals (Chambers and Legal 500) as a leading adviser on management buyouts and in particular in advising the equity providers.
Steven’s recent experience includes advising Merchant Equity Partners on the acquisition of MFI Retail, advising the shareholders of Cramer Systems on the sale of Cramer to Amdocs, advising Holmes Place on the sale of its UK Clubs to Virgin Active, advising Lion Capital on the acquisition of the lingerie retailer La Senza and advising the Universal Music Group on the €1.63 billion purchase of the BMG Music publishing business.
Granted the Corporate Finance qualification by the ICAEW.
He has written a number of articles on legal issues relating to, and contributed to, guides on buyouts and is a regular speaker at conferences on all matters relating to Private Equity.
