Artem Doudko is an Associate in the International Arbitration Group of SJ Berwin LLP working in particular for Russian-speaking clients.
Artem graduated with an LLB in Laws with Advanced Studies from University College London and gained his professional qualification at the College of Law, London. Artem completed his legal training with SJ Berwin LLP, gaining experience within the International Mergers & Acquisitions, Commercial Litigation, Private Equity (Funds and Deals), and Commerce & Technology departments.
Artem is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Artem advises on various contentious matters, with a focus on international arbitration and litigation. His recent contentious experience has included work on numerous international disputes, representing both companies and high net-worth individuals.
Artem has had experience of arbitrations conducted in accordance with various sets of rules including LCIA, AAA and IFTA as well as ad hoc arbitrations.
Artem’s recent and on-going matters include:
- a multi-million pound commodities contract dispute between two major European companies taking place at the LCIA;
- a challenge to the jurisdiction of the English courts in respect of shares in a company with underlying assets located in Russia;
- a dispute concerning ownership of various investments in Serbia;
- advising in respect of a contractual dispute between an Austrian and Russian company;
- advising on the possibility of bringing an investment arbitration claim against an African State;
- challenging a listing on the London Stock Exchange due to non-disclosure of material facts;
- advising on an enforcement of a Californian IFTA award in England;
- advising on the suitability of various dispute resolution clauses.
Artem currently assists in editing the Russian Journal on International Commercial Arbitration «Международный Коммерческий Арбитраж» and is a regular speaker at seminars aimed at senior Russian in-house legal counsel on various topics connected with English law and international arbitration.
Artem is also heavily involved in project-management work acting as the client contact for various Russian-speaking clients in respect of non-contentious transactions involving cross-departmental teams of lawyers from the Corporate, Banking and Financial Services departments at SJ Berwin LLP as well as foreign law firms.
Artem is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Anglo-Russian Law Association and is responsible for the day-to-day running of this Association.
Artem is bilingual in English and Russian.
