UK | Alternative Dispute Resolution
The Civil Procedure Rules require all courts to encourage litigants to use ADR and to facilitate its use. Alternative Dispute Resolution is a general term describing a variety of ways to resolve disputes without a conventional court trial. The most common form of ADR is mediation which has many benefits: it will save time and money, allow flexibility, offer more control, preserve relationships, offer confidentiality and provide finality.
Phillip Howell-Richardson, one of the top Mediators in the UK, joined the unit in 2005. Phillip is described by Chambers as "one of the legendary figures in the area" and "a star on any list".
Holger Thomas, a partner based in Frankfurt and a certified mediator, has wide experience as a business mediator and frequently lectures on subjects relating to Alternative Dispute Resolution. JUVE-Handbuch 2004/05/06 describes him as "discreet, flexible, pragmatic and commercial".
