Martin has more than 20 years’ experience of working in private equity and has acted for numerous institutions and management teams on buyouts and other private equity transactions including secondary portfolio acquisitions. He also represents corporates, including buyout companies, on private M&A dealsand related activity.

Martin's established private equity clients include the leading mid-market investors, Graphite Capital and Hermes Private Equity.

Recent key activity includes advising:

  • Graphite on the leveraged buyout of the leading fashion shoes brand, Kurt Geiger
  • Graphite and other shareholders on the sale of Summit Medical Limited to Riverside LLC and management on their rollover into the buyer vehicle
  • Hermes and other shareholders of Walbrook Group Limited on its disposal to Barclays Wealth Management for more than £100 million
  • Hermes on its participation in the £4.2 billion winning consortium bid for Southern Water and on the sale of Park Finance Group
  • Graphite on the twin management buyout of "InnBrighton", the purchase of the C-Side Holdings and Zelgrain pub and club operators in Brighton
  • Hermes on the buyout of Independent Living Group: Communitas Holdings Limited and Ilias Holdings Limited
  • Graphite on the leveraged buyout/buy-in of Lasercare Holdings (IOM) Limited, one of the leading providers of non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the UK
  • Graphite on the leveraged buyout of Micheldever Tyre Services Limited, the leading independent UK tyre distributor and retailer
  • Public Sector Pension Investment Fund, a Canadian investment fund, on one of its first direct investments, as part of a consortium including Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co and Apax, in the purchase of Philips Semi Conductor Business (renamed NXP) at an enterprise value of €8.3 Billion
  • the Drumaville consortium on the takeover of Sunderland football club.
