Michaela Westrup studied at Frankfurt University, Germany, and University of Keele, England. After her first German state exam, she attended the LL.M. programme at Northwestern University, Chicago, where she focused on American Intellectual Property, Copyrights and Anti-Trust law.

Since she qualified as a German attorney, Michaela Westrup has specialised in both Corporate and EU & Competition law. For more than two years, she advised clients in corportate issues of private equity transactions and negotiated clients' interests in Venture Capital deals.

Lately, Michaela Westrup has been concentrating on competition aspects of M&A transactions, on German and European merger control, on the coordination and supervision of multi-jurisdictional merger filings, on EU & Competition litigation and on providing corporate clients with specific compliance advice.

Her doctoral thesis compared European and American Trademark law with respect to the admissibility of parallel imports. Michaela Westrup is a member of Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht.
