Dr. Michael Cziesla is a senior associate in the Frankfurt office of SJ Berwin LLP.

Michael advises German and international clients on a broad range of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on leveraged buy-outs and multi-national mergers and acquisitions. Michael also works on domestic and cross-border corporate restructuring and insolvency matters.

Recent transactions include advising Nomura International on the buy-out of NORDSEE, Germany's number 3 fast food chain, advising Electra Europe on the buy-out of LuK Fahrzeug-Hydraulik, advising DZ Equity Partner on the buy-out of Billerbeck-Group and advising Süd-Private Equity on the disposal of Pharmexx GmbH.

Before joining SJ Berwin in 2003, Michael was employed with the M&A Group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Frankfurt. In 2005 Michael worked as a foreign lawyer in the firm's London office.

Michael studied law at the Universities in Kiel and Mainz, was visiting scholar at the J. Reuben Clarke Law School and is a member of the German chapter of the J. Reuben Clarke Law Society. He wrote his Phd thesis on the liability of successor corporations. Michael, a German national, is admitted as a lawyer ("Rechtsanwalt") in Frankfurt Germany.
