SJ Berwin’s Finance department in Paris has extensive experience in advising French and foreign banks as well as numerous other financial institutions in the field of acquisition finance (LBO, senior and mezzanine debt finance), syndicated lending and structured finance. It also has strong and rising expertise in real estate finance, Islamic finance and restructuring.

Olivier Vermeulen – comprises 5 lawyers, all specialised in advising both banks and private equity funds in the financing of leveraged buyouts.
In 2010, while the team has remained active in its core acquisition finance sector, advising senior and mezzanine debt providers mainly on mid-cap leverage and on a couple of large-cap buy-out acquisition deals, it has also diversified its range of work by advising various clients on debt restructuring and on real estate financing.
Due to the constant flow of deals and the diversification in the type of work undertaken, the team was naturally upgraded in all the league tables published in France and Europe.
In 2010, the team was ranked 1st in the "legal advisors of LBO debt" in the league tables published by Private Equity Magazine, and, more recently in the Tier 4 in the "Banking & Finance" tables of Legal 500 2011.
