Private Equity Investment Funds Invitation to a European Update
Tuesday 3rd June 2008
at 10 Queen Street Place, London EC4R 1BE
The Private Equity team at SJ Berwin has pleasure in inviting you to our eleventh Annual Seminar. We will give a short overview of important commercial, legal, tax and regulatory developments in the Private Equity arena and share our thoughts on how to make the most of current market conditions.
As demand for places has been high in previous years, we will be holding the seminar twice - please choose to attend either the evening of Monday 12 May or the morning of Tuesday 3 June.
Do also join us for a champagne reception immediately following the seminar on Monday 12 May, to celebrate a year of exceptional achievements across SJ Berwin's pan-European team in 2007. The team advised on more than 90 funds across Europe, fundraisings of more than €60 billion and were voted European Law Firm of the year (Fund Formation) for the sixth year running by Private Equity International.
Background
The private equity industry experienced a political storm in the UK, USA and Continental Europe in 2007, but despite this records were smashed for funds raised and deals done in the first half of the year. Then came the crunch in the credit markets. So what impact will this have on the fundraising market for private equity?

- an overview of the private funds market
- terms and conditions in buyout and other funds
- new trends in debt, mezzanine and distressed debt
- infrastructure funds and renewable energy funds and private equity real estate funds
- the outlook for listed funds, permanent capital vehicles and investment in management companies
- changes to capital gains tax in the UK
- the impact of the Walker review
- "non-doms" and carried interest
- MIFID
You will also hear our views on which of the current threats are most real, and offer suggestions on how to deal with them in the year ahead. Finally, you will of course have the opportunity to put your questions to the panel.
