Private Equity: Hedge Funds at the Gate
Thursday 10th July 2008
at 10 Queen Street Place, London EC4R 1BE
The exceptional returns delivered by private equity funds in recent years has caught the attention of hedge fund managers who are seeking to diversify their investment strategies in pursuit of alpha within an increasingly competitive marketplace. The experience of hedge fund managers in influencing and managing portfolio companies and the financing role of hedge funds in the leveraged buyout market have fuelled further interest by hedge funds in traditional private equity opportunities. By the same token, some large buyout houses have established hedge funds which provide more investment flexibility and easier access to capital. This convergence of investment strategies between private equity and hedge funds has come into sharper focus in the current market environment and is evident across a number of asset classes including infrastructure, public equity and debt.
