Foundation Update
Tuesday 4th June 2002
at Frankfurt Office
More and more non-profit organisations are being founded in Germany. Whilst in 1990 only 181 such organisations were founded, by 2000 that figure had already risen to 681 and in 2001 it reached 1000. Of the foundations established in 2001, around 98% of them were aimed at promoting social welfare. This development can be traced, amongst other things, to the changes to the laws on charitable giving and in particular to the considerable potential for tax planning that exists in relation to organisations promoting social welfare. This seminar is intended to provide an overview of the salient new laws as well as selected structures for non-profit organisations.
