About Us
The Employment & Pensions Group advises on all employment and pensions law, covering contentious and non-contentious issues. We run 6 workshop seminars a year covering topical issues directed at HR specialists, publish a monthly bulletin giving upto- the-minute reports on new cases, legislation and advance warning of likely developments and also offer on-site bespoke training to clients.
We act for employers, senior executives and pension scheme trustees, Clients include large plcs, smaller companies, educational establishments, charities, partnerships and occupational pensions schemes.
Background
In the UK, unlike much of continental Europe, informing and consulting employees has largely been a matter for individual employers to regulate. There are specific situations where formal collective consultation has been required, for example, in a collective redundancy situation or a TUPE transfer, but many employers have not needed to deal with such formalities. This may all change from April 2005: new regulations specifying formal collective consultation mechanisms will come into force, bringing the UK more into line with other European countries. In this seminar we will be offering a practical analysis of the new Information and Consultation Regulations, together with an outline of the options available to employers both prior to and after the implementation of the Regulations.
