SJ Berwin represented ENIC plc and ENIC Sports SARL in connection with the sale of the shareholding in the Greek football club, AEK Athens, previously held by Netmed NV to the Greek company, Ippoventure SA, which will take over responsibility from Netmed for the management of the Club.
ENIC plc, together with its wholly-owned Luxembourg subsidiary, ENIC Sports SARL, jointly own directly and indirectly approximately 43% of AEK Athens. When ENIC acquired the Club in 1997 it was the first time that a Greek club had been bought by a foreign company.

Tandeep Minhas, senior assistant in the Corporate Finance team of SJ Berwin, acted for ENIC in connection with the disposal.
SJ Berwin has acted for ENIC in the acquisition of numerous stakes in European football clubs over the years, including Glasgow Rangers, FC Basel, Slavia Prague, AEK Athens, Vicenza Calcio and most recently Tottenham Hotspur.
