Head of SJ Berwin's Planning and Environment Group, partner Pat Thomas chaired the CBI the working party which produced the Planning Brief; Planning for productivity - a ten-point action plan, that was launched this week.
The Brief declares that, for business, the planning system is too slow, involves too many uncertainties and often results in poor decisions. The CBI have identified a ten-point action plan directed to curing those ills in the planning system that are frustrating business enterprise and growth so that the planning system will have the ability to:
Deliver decisions that are more coherent, consistent and well justified
Reach decisions with minimum delay
Make the process of securing decisions more user-friendly
Pat Thomas says, "I am delighted to have chaired this working party and am confident that the Brief provides a useful steer to the Government for the preparation of the Green Paper."
