SJ Berwin have acted for Chelsfield plc in connection with their purchase of the freehold of Bedford House, 21 John Street, WC1 for £9m from Cable and Wireless.

Cable and Wireless will lease back 8,000sqft with the remaining 25,000sqft being available to let.

SJ Berwin property partner John Eldridge acted for Chelsfield. DLA acted for Cable & Wireless.

• John Eldridge joined SJ Berwin as a partner in the Property Department in 1983 shortly after the firm's inception. He has wide experience in commercial property matters, particularly in the office, retail and hotel sections, acting for amongst others Ladbroke, British Land, Schlumberger, Securum, Chelsfield and Royal Sun Alliance, Merivale Moore and numerous offshore investors.
