SJ Berwin Strengthens its Financial Services Group
Dr Henning Starke will strengthen SJ Berwin's German Financial Services team which, under the direction of Achim Pütz, has established itself as one of the leading investment law service providers, particularly in the context of Hedge funds. Achim Pütz emphasised that: "With this addition to our Financial Services Group, we have substantially strengthened our team in respect of German investment and funds business, in both the traditional and the alternative market sectors." With his international experience and industry contacts, the appointment of Henning Starke, who has worked in London for the last few years, is a key strategic factor in the expansion of SJ Berwin’s European Financial Services Group.
That this expansion is well underway is reflected in another new appointment. Dr Hilger von Livonius, an experienced senior associate from Clifford Chance's Munich office, will also be joining Achim Pütz's team. Dr Til Fock, a partner in SJ Berwin’s Financial Services Group made the following comment on Dr von Livonius's arrival: "Through his publications and in depth work with clients Von Livonius is one of the very few lawyers who, in recent times, have made a name for themselves in the alternative investment sector. He is therefore an important addition to our team, particularly with regard to innovative product structuring."
Dr Uwe Steininger, a partner in SJ Berwin's Munich office commented that: "With the arrival of the new team members, we are pursuing one of our strategic objectives; namely to continue to expand our German alternative investment group, which currently comprises 12 specialist advisers."
