Further Expansion of SJ Berwin's Leveraged Finance Practice
Karl joined Addleshaws as a partner in 2000 prior to which he worked at Macfarlanes for four years having trained at Lovell White Durrant (now Lovells) where he worked for two years upon qualification.
Woolley specialises in leveraged finance, in particular domestic and overseas MBO and MBI transactions - working alongside leading private equity and senior debt providers. Major clients include Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank plc, Allied Irish Bank and NM Rothschild & Sons Limited.

The core Finance Department grew by 45% in 2006, an increase of 85% over the past three years. The department comprises 13 partners and over 40 fee earners. Key bank clients include Bank of Ireland, Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank plc, Landsbanki Islands h.f., Lehman Brothers, Lloyds TSB Bank plc, NM Rothschild & Sons, Standard Chartered Bank , and The Royal Bank of Scotland plc. The department works closely with other departments within the firm, in particular the Financial Services Group on regulatory and derivatives work, the property finance group in the Real Estate Division and the media finance group. It advises a wide range of banks and other financial institutions, corporates and revenue capitalists. SJ Berwin LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Karl Woolley, previously a partner in the banking group at Addleshaw Goddard, as a partner. His appointment takes the number of partners in SJ Berwin’s pan-European finance department to 13.
