SJ Berwin’s leading fund formation team advised new client Industri Kapital on the € 1.675 billion final closing of Industri Kapital 2007. Industri Kapital is a European private equity firm, having raised funds totalling EUR 5.7 billion. This is the sixth fund that Industri Kapital has raised to date and the first time that SJ Berwin has acted for Industri Kapital on a fundraising, having won the mandate from Industri Kapital’s previous fund advisers. 

The Industri Kapital 2007 Fund, which was over subscribed, will continue to execute Industri Kapital’s successful strategy of making control buyouts of middle market companies with strong cash flow and profit improvement potential in the Nordic region and Continental Europe focussing primarily on companies with enterprise values of between € 100 million and € 500 million.

The SJ Berwin funds team are currently advising on funds raising in excess of €30 billion of commitments.  Other recent closings include the €4.6 billion Macquarie European Infrastructure II fund, the €2 billion RREEF Infrastructure Fund, the €895 million Patron Capital, L.P III fund, Amadeus III, Pantheon Global Secondary Fund III and Graphite Capital Partners VII.

The SJ Berwin team advising Industri Kapital was led by funds partner Nigel van Zyl and included funds partners Josyane Gold, Mark Hainsworth (tax) and Christian Schatz (tax), funds associates Bridget Quirke, Mubanga Kangwa, Gregg Beechey (financial services) and Penny Simmons (tax) and trainee solicitor Lewis Phillips.
