S J Berwin & Co represented First Quantum Minerals Ltd ("FQM") in relation to its application for its common shares to be admitted to trading on the Alternative Investment Market operated by the London Stock Exchange plc announced on 9 April 2001.

FQM, a Canadian public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, is a rapidly growing integrated mining and metals company whose principal activities include mineral development, mining, smelting and refining. Whilst its head office is in Vancouver, Canada, its operations are focussed on the copper and cobalt sectors in Zambia primarily and Africa generally. On admission, FQM was capitalised at approximately £46 million. FQM sought an AIM listing to provide access to LondonÍs capital market and to enhance its international profile.
