Banking and Finance Partner joins SJ Berwin’s Paris Office
Colin Millar joined the SJ Berwin Paris office on 3 January 2005. As the former head of Simmons & Simmons’ Banking Department, his role will be to develop the Paris office’s banking and finance practice. Colin qualified at Oxford University and obtained a MA (Case Law) and a Bachelor’s Degree of Civil Law. He started his career at Freshfields (London office) in 1986 and moved to Paris in 1989. He joined Simmons & Simmons in 1992 and became a partner in 1994.
Colin is a solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales and an avocat member of the Paris Bar.
Colin frequently advises French and foreign banks as well as numerous other financial institutions in the area of the financing of acquisitions (LBO, senior debts, and mezzanine), syndicated lending and structured finance. Colin also specialises in investment services and asset management, particularly in relation to hedge funds.
George Pinkham, senior partner in the Paris office, announced that Colin’s recruitment was part of SJ Berwin’s strategy to reinforce its presence in Banking and Finance on a pan-European level. Colin’s appointment follows other significant arrivals in this field over the last year which includes Jeremy Cross and Nick Terras in London and Thomas Schrell in the Frankfurt office. George Pinkham believes that these arrivals will permit SJ Berwin to broaden the services it renders to its clients and to reinforce its position in Europe with respect to cross border leveraged acquisitions and M&A.
