SJ Berwin has Launched its International Arbitration Practice
The International Arbitration practice was set up in April following the arrival of David Goldberg as co-head alongside Tim Taylor. SJ Berwin has always had a strong reputation in cross-border disputes and in recent years the arbitration content has been on the increase. The group now comprises 10 partners, based and the London, Brussels and Frankfurt offices. They have wide industry experience in financial services and banking, telecommunications, satellites, construction and project finance, information technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, film and media.
They have recently engaged special counsel in Shanghai, New Delhi and Vienna to work alongside Tim and David in China, India and Continental Europe. The group’s work also has a strong Russian and former C.I.S focus.
The team has a wealth of experience in resolving disputes (both advocating for clients and sitting as arbitrators) through the world's leading arbitration institutions and in "ad hoc" international commercial arbitrations. They act for both commercial concerns, governments and government agencies. They have also recently been appointed an approved provider of legal services to the Ukrainian government.
Tim Taylor says: "These are very exciting times for our International Arbitration practice. We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of international disputes and the volume of instructions we have received since the practice has been set up highlights the demand for this area of expertise."
