SJ Berwin Advises on Iconic's First Acquisition

Leading corporate and commercial law firm SJ Berwin's real estate division has advised Iconic, the new Joint Venture between commercial property company Rugby Estates and residential developer Londonewcastle on its first acquisition. Iconic has acquired a former Natwest Bank block at 227 City Road, London EC1, for which it is seeking consent for a 30,000 sq ft mixed-use redevelopment, planned to be worth £9m.
Nick Minkoff, real estate partner at SJ Berwin advised on the deal. Paul Lawrence of Taylor Wessing advised the vendors.

Nick Minkoff commented, "Iconic is a £100m JV between Rugby and Londonewcastle aiming to combine their respective expertise in commercial and residential property to create distinctive design-led mixed-use environments in urban areas. We are pleased to be involved in this their first acquisition which will include a bar/restaurant, private and social flats, offices and shops and a communal garden on the edge of the City and we look forward to further activity in the future."
