SJ Berwin's Paris office specialises in advising investment fund managers on all types of private equity transactions. The team provides clients with a range of expertise on transactional matters, including MBOs, LBOs, secondaries, exits and fund investments. The team is particularly focused on the mid-cap sector, an area which is at the heart of the French private equity market and one in which SJ Berwin is the uncontested leader.

The highly regarded M&A practice has grown out of the office's expertise in transactional matters and is now recognised as a market leader in the area of mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, advising large and mid sized companies, both French and international, on all aspects of corporate finance and restructuring.
Finance
The Finance department advises a wide range of large companies, banks, financial institutions and investment funds on national and international transactions. The practice is centred around acquisition finance, real estate finance and debt restructuring. The team also has experience advising on Islamic finance.
Tax
The Tax department specialises in the complex tax structuring of investment funds and other transparent entities (Partnerships, LLC, FCPR, FCP, SICAR, FIS, etc), as well as the tax efficient structuring of incentive plans for fund managers. The tax group has also developed an expertise in the structuring of acquisitions, in particular LBO transactions, mergers and acquisitions and real estate investments. Furthermore, the team has a deep understanding of matters associated with tax inspection.
EU & Competition
The EU & Competition department has a strong team specialising in matters of cartels, dominance and abuse of position, distribution and other vertical agreements, commercial contracts and consumer law. The department has also developed a reputation for its contentious work and is very active in regulated sectors (healthcare, online games), internet, fashion and consumer staples.
